“The Red Riders are coming.”
It’s not a line from the latest episode of “Game of Thrones.” It’s the arrival of the American Diabetes Association’s annual Tour de Cure, a cycling event and fundraiser taking place across the country. Riders can sign up to an existing team or create their own, find a local ride and hit the streets.
The American Diabetes Association exists to help find a cure for diabetes and to help diabetes patients learn about their condition in order to manage it. For the Tour de Cure, the Association welcomes people of all cycling skill levels to help them raise funds to achieve their goals. Maybe you want to take a nice leisurely ride? There’s a route for you. Perhaps you’d rather challenge yourself on the course? There’s a route for you, too.
According to the Association, the money raised from the Tour de Cure goes to “fund research for a cure, information to help prevent diabetes, advocacy for those affected by diabetes and public awareness activities.”
So when you see the gathering armies, know that they’re here to help. Support the Red Riders when they roll through your town, or join the battle for good.
